Cessna "Mustang" Award

The Beginning of Our Partnership

The PacMin Corporation after seeing sculpted awards by MK Shannon, ascertained that they wanted to work with MK to develop a superior line of awards to offer their elite customers in the aircraft industry. It was their intention to become the premier awards company in their industry. MK Shannon met with the sales staff and management to offer original designs and suggestions. From those meetings a series of awards were developed and have been used successfully with Boeing, Cessna and other aircraft companies for the past decade. At the request of PacMin, MK has designed over 17 different aircraft awards for Cessna corporation alone.
Cessna "Safety" Award
A Custom or Commissioned Sculpture

For several years now, PacMin has partnered with world-renowned artist and sculptor MK Shannon to create aircraft sculptures where each piece is crafted to your specifications. You can work with PacMin's design team to create a new and unique sculpture, or you may select one from MK Shannon’s illustrious collection. Our team of artists can customize any of these existing sculptures by adding a representation of a particular aircraft of your choice.
Profit Award

When developing a new sculpture, we conduct an in-depth dialogue with you and your team, our in-house staff of artists and MK Shannon. Drawing from this dialogue, we then present you with concept images to critique. Our knowledge of materials and production allow us to make suggestions based on your budget, quantity and timeline. The chosen concept can then progress to a prototype or 3D CAD rendering. Once you decide on the final look and size, our artists sculpt a model using clay or wax. A mold is then made which is used to cast your sculpture.
Pilot Award

Constructed of bronze, high-quality lead-free pewter and marble, each contemporary work of art is available with either a natural brushed pewter finish or a gold or silver plated finish. Personalized nameplates and gift packaging are some of the options we offer that put the finishing touch on a professional and polished presentation—an artistically created sculpture that your clients will treasure for many years to come! These unique, fine art sculptures are designed to celebrate your business or passion and create visual interest in any space.

In Business This is "As Good As It Gets!"

With a company that is reaching it 30th year (hard to believe but true), and as the owner of that company, I have traveled many miles and interacted face-to-face with many event planners, very many. There are those who stand out in my mind and those who just stand out. BRAVO! is and continues to be one of those event planning companies that is superb. I have been involved with this company since 2007. Nancy Shaffer, Founder and CEO, is an amazingly talented woman who sought to use our company as a resource for high-quality awards. In my mind, she wanted awards that could match the quality of the events she produced. I think her work is stellar and I am proud that she considers mine the same.

We always hope to please our clients and when we do and they tell us so, it is particularly heart warming to all of us at MK Shannon Awards. You can work for money, most of us have no choice, but to work for things you love and to perform in a manner that you can be proud of is “as good as it gets” in business!

We recently received this email from Eldrina Jones, Chief Operating Officer of BRAVO! It was so touching I had to share it here.
MK, I only speak the truth and when great client service is provided – I shout it from the hills. Too many times people only talk about the negative experiences and I am happy to acknowledge Kathleen and your entire team. I can see why she is your “right and left arm” – her warm and calm demeanor was always present on the phone.

We are a small business and know that every single person is vital for the body as a whole. These are the people that keep us going. We appreciate our BRAVO! family. Nancy and I have spent years nurturing the people who make our business.

I thank you MK for your artistry. It always brings a smile to our faces when we open the box. A bigger smile when we see such deserving people (as these honorees) who are most times overlooked, see these awards and hold them with such pride. That is when the joy is overflowing from the inside out.

We encourage our clients to use MK Shannon for their awards and will continue to spread the word.

Thank you MK.

Eldrina Jones
Chief Operating Officer BRAVO!

The following is our reply:
Eldrina, I trust that your awards will arrive safely and I am so pleased that you took the time to praise Kathleen. She is my "right and left arm", as you have witnessed. Everyone that works to make my designs into awards that you can present with honor to your recipients, deeply cares about making you proud. Very sweet of you to take the time to thank Kathleen; sincerely appreciate your business. ~MK

Experient called MK Shannon Awards and Rewards, Inc. asking for a custom designed award using their logo. The award, affectionately referred to as the I-Guy within the company, was designed and approved for production within a few weeks.

MK was able to transpose their 2-dimensional graphic logo into a 3D sculptural figure that appears both energetic and elegant. The award is cast in pewter and plated in sterling silver. The finish is non-tarnishing. Mounted onto a black marble stand, the award is presented each year as the Pinnacle Award and the Envision Award—these are Experient’s highest awards.

The Making of the Waxy Awards for the Hollywood Wax Museum

A little history about the Hollywood Wax Museum:
The Hollywood Wax Museum, located on Hollywood Boulevard along the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, California, is the longest running wax museum in the history of the United States, with more than 48 years of continuous operation by the same owners since 1965.

In the fall of 2012, for their new Waxy Awards program, they commissioned MK Shannon to interpret and copy their company's highly-recognized outdoor display sign (shown here).

This design is very complex and required several days work to construct as a model for final approval by the owner (see mockup in black and white). The original artwork had to be redrawn to make it suitable for model making and casting. Aileen Stein, Director of Corporate Communications for Kuvera Partners Inc., was tireless in her efforts to co-ordinate this project quickly and efficiently, assisting MK at every turn and providing excellent support. This project could not have succeeded without her.
Once the designs to be modeled and cast were approved, MK constructed the model, worked with the mold-maker, and oversaw final assembly of the cast parts. Five awards were completed and plated in Sterling Silver for the first Waxy Awards event at the new Hollywood Wax Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee (see photo of final Waxy Award).

Within four weeks and a lot of phone calls, emails, and hard work, the awards were completed and shipped. Aileen's comments say it all: "Approved. It's looking great. Please proceed. Thanks so much for your amazing effort!"
These are the names of the 5 WAXY AWARDS presented on October 24, 2012 and their recipients:

WAXY AWARD—Creativity: Studio Y Creations

WAXY AWARD—Excellence: D and S Builders

WAXY AWARD—Community Service: Boys and Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains

The Jane Goodall Institute Recognizes Global Leaders with MK Shannon Commissioned Award In Harmony

On November 7, 2008 in Washington DC, the Jane Goodall Institute held its second annual Global Leadership Awards Celebration presenting each honoree with a commissioned award designed by MK Shannon.

This year’s award recipients were US Representative Tom Udall for Excellence in Public Policy, Pierce and Keely Shaye Brosnan for Responsible Activism in Media and Entertainment, and Green Mountain Coffee for Corporate Social Responsibility. In addition, the Youth Leadership Award winners included Manoj Gautam of Kathmandu, Nepal, Emily Woodall of Banner Elk, NC, and Tayler McGillis of Toluca, Il.

The master of ceremonies for the evening was Anderson Cooper, host of CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360. Academy award-nominated actress Abigail Breslin and her brother, actor Spencer Breslin helped present the Youth Leadership Award.

MK Shannon designed the sculpted award called In Harmony incorporating the three elements requested by Dr. Goodall: a globe, a woman, and a dove. The custom design expresses the interconnectedness of our planet, humanity, and the peaceful coexistence that Dr. Goodall’s tireless efforts strengthen. “It is a rare honor to work with such an extraordinary woman as Jane Goodall,” said MK Shannon. “She is truly the inspiration behind In Harmony. We are so pleased and–yes–inspired by the opportunity to work with her and her wonderful organization for these two years.”

The Importance of An Artist's Signature

Historically artists have used their signature to mark their work. Consequently it has become a hallmark of the level of quality. Perhaps, it is simply the idea of pride of ownership. The artist signs their name to not only show ownership of the design of the work but also to announce themselves to the world along with their satisfaction with the completion of a work of art.

Many awards, particularly sculpted awards and even some custom awards do not carry the signature of the artist, or if the awards or trophies do carry a signature it is stamped into the sculpture. It is my belief that the work we do at MK Shannon Awards and Rewards is Awards Fine Art. Our sculpted awards, custom awards and commissioned awards all carry my signature etched into the metal by hand. It is a mark of quality and craftsmanship. It marks the sculpted award as an original created by my hand and no other. So when you are looking for unique awards or trophies to give for achievement, recognition or motivation, look for the artist’s signature on the award. It will tell you immediately that the artist is committed to the originality and uniqueness of their work and most of all to the quality. After all, you want to give an award that will be more that a decoration or momentary acknowledgement of accomplishment, you want to give a gift or award that has enduring meaning because of its artistic design and high quality.
